Fiji Cruise Packing Tips

Choosing what things to pack to go on a Fiji cruise can be challenging. You don’t want to bring too much stuff, but you also don’t want to need anything while on the cruise. Given the variety of activities you can do on and off the boat, you’ll need outfits to fit casual, informal and formal occasions. And don’t forget all your toiletries, emergency items and reading material! Here are some simple packing tips for your next Fiji cruise.

Bring interchangeable clothing

Depending on how long your cruise is, you’ll need to bring more or less items of clothing. You will have to prepare for formal dinners but also casual daytime activities. A good bet is to bring clothing you can mix and match: black and neutral tones with a few colors to match is a good way to make sure you don’t look like you’re wearing the same thing all the time.

Men should bring at least one complete suit, a few shirts and some khaki pants and t-shirts for the daytime. Women should have one or two formal dresses or formal skirt-and-top ensembles, as well as casual sundresses, bermudas and shorts for the daytime. Both should bring comfortable hiking outfits for on-shore activities and sports.

Don’t forget that the weather won’t always be warm and sunny, so prepare a few warm sweaters and maybe a raincoat in case it rains.

Toiletries and health care

Most cruise ships, especially small lines of 100 to 150-people boats, will usually offer soap, shampoo and body lotion free of charge. However, if you’d rather stick to your routine, use travel-size bottles and packs to save some space. But don’t skimp on sunscreen! Bring at least 2 full-sized bottles. Don’t forget any medication or supplements (and take the prescriptions with you, just in case).

Electronic devices

Who wants to go on a cruise without a camera? If you’re an expert photographer, make sure that your photo equipment isn’t too bulky. Bring only the necessary lens and accessories and leave the rest at home. If you don’t care that much, a simple point-and-shoot camera will do the trick. Bring an alarm clock for those hopefully rare mornings you need to get up for expeditions or on-shore stops. Check with the cruise ship or your cell phone company about Internet or roaming data charges and budget in consequence.

Entertainment

If you own an e-book reader, then you don’t have to worry about filling your suitcase with books! Just make sure to bring your charger with you so you don’t run out of things to read. Otherwise, magazines, books and puzzle books are a good choice to kill time while sun tanning. Bring kids’ toys if they’re coming along with you.

This is certainly not all you might need, but it gives you a good idea of all the basic things to bring on a vacation, whether you’re on a Fiji cruise or in Malaysia hotels. And don’t forget your passport!
