A Little Women on Little Boat Solo Voyage around the world
Jessica Watson, a 16 year old sailor, departed Sydney on October, 18 in her attempt to become the youngest person to sail solo around the world, unassisted. With a S&S 34, a classic design from the famous Sparkman & Stephens name “Ella’s Pink Lady”, it is known firstly for its seaworthiness, toughness and track record. It is a little boat for open sea also.

The approximate distance is 23,000 nautical miles. She must depart and arrive from the same port, cross the equator entering into the Northern Hemisphere at least once and round the southern landmarks of South America and South Africa. On November 5, Jessica passed the 2,000 nautical mile. She is presently passing the Tongan Islands heading north east towards American Samoa.
SatCom Global supplied the communications equipment and airtime that is a crucial component of her voyage. She can communicate with the outside world both as a safety mechanism and also to keep everyone up to date with her voyage as well. Find more update on her blog.
